INDIVIDUAL THERAPY

CHILDREN make their way to therapy because of many different reasons. Anxiety/fears, sadness/depression and behavioral problems tend to be the most common ones. I engage children through art and play, with the goal of helping them create an emotional toolbox full of skills they can use in their day to day experiences.

ADOLESCENTS face many challenges as part of their development; they are in constant pursuit of the perfect balance between independence and guidance and support. In a 2014 survey conducted by the American Psychological Association, teens reported their stress level is higher than levels reported by adults but they lack the skills to cope with it.

Stress is fueled by academic and athletic pressures, social expectations and relationships, an overuse of technology, and little sleep.

I help kids and teens identify and name their feelings, in order to then express them in healthier ways. Kids also learn better ways to manage stress, ask for help, and value a more balanced lifestyle.

ADULTS seek therapy for many different reasons; in a supportive atmosphere I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client's needs and readiness to change, all through a Biopsychosocial model of therapy. This model considers biological, psychological and social factors and their complex interactions in understanding functioning and health.

Common themes in my practice are: Sadness, stress/anxiety, family conflict/divorce, life transitions, parenting, illness, grief, and work/career issues.
